Hi Jason,
The issue of compliance with ‘standards’ is a perennial one for us. And there is no easy answer as there are hundreds of standards world wide. In terms of the BS standards, there is an additional problem. The BS standard has grown over many years to encompass ‘best practice’ engineering. It’s not based upon the true physics of the problem (which is what we solve in an FEA solution) but a simplified set of rules or limits. It tends to be conservative in nature, so as to be safe, but it is limited in its application. At the moment the only advice we can give is to use an FEA solution during the design iteration phase and then do a final check at the end.
